So I've recently adjusted some of my monitor settings and I'm not sure how it will change the look of the comics, if at all for that matter. Hopefully the comics will be brighter, but I won't know until I look at them on another computer. Unfortunately, I can't do anything about the bloom on the Combine Elite in panels 2 & 3. I was too lazy to redo them after I had already redone panels 1, 4, 5, & 6.
The original positioning of Frohman and the Combine in panel 1 was off, and I forgot to put the shovel in his hand. Panel 4 & 6 were just missing the blood splatters on Frohman because I did those panels on different days and forgot about the blood until I looked at all the panels when I was putting everything together. Then I had to redo panel 4 a second time when I saw that the posing didn't really match the tone of the dialogue.
I used a font called Detectives Inc. for the "Private Eye" text, and Armor Piercing for the rest of it because the Detectives Inc. font doesn't show up too well in low res. Then there's the matter of the hat. I was looking for something that resembled something Dick Tracy would wear, but my skimming of the Gmod Related Files page came up with few results. I tried one hat model that looked good, but when compared to the styles of textures the game is using, it didn't look too good. Then I tried the gibbed Sniper's hat from TF2, but it was too low res and bloody to use. Finally I settled on the one you see in the comic. The textures still don't fully match the style of the world and characters textures, and it isn't very resembling of the 1930's detectives, but it can be passed off as Steed's hat from The Avengers.
I was sort of hesitant to even add the hat bit in when I couldn't find one, and I doubted if it should still be in there, but I think it kind of wraps up the last panel sort of well. I still think it's a bit awkward though. Then again, we can't all be like Concerned.
And I have no idea whether my use of italics in the above paragraphs is being used properly or not....
